Matriculation (Undergraduate): a brief description
Matriculation is the process where students register with the University each Academic Year. This includes online matriculation, Advising and Matriculation.
Online Matriculation
This is an online facility accessed through iSaint. Registry will email all students expected to matriculate with details on accessing the facility. This will usually be in August (or early January for 2nd semester entrants and those returning from leave of absence).
Elements of online matriculation students may need to complete include:
- reading essential information
- checking Advising details
- payment of tuition fees
- payment of accommodation fees
- payment of any outstanding debt
- updating personal details (e.g. addresses)
- reading visa and passport information for UKBA documentation checks
- signing up to the St Andrews Medical agreement (medicine students only)
- signing up to the Matriculation Agreement (University terms and conditions)
Students should complete online matriculation before attending Advising, where possible.
Advising
Advising takes place in Orientation Week and also during Orientation in January for students starting in second semester. This is where students meet their Advisers to discuss their module choices and have them approved. All students must attend Advising in person. Medical students will have their modules entered automatically and will need to meet with their Personal Tutors instead.
Please see Advising - a brief description for further information.
Matriculation
This event takes place during Orientation Week and also during Orientation in January for students starting in January. This is where new students should hand in their completed application to register with the Health Centre. Students who are in the UK on a visa should bring their passport and visa to Matriculation for checking and scanning.
If help is needed with online matriculation or any other aspect of the matriculation process there will be people who can assist at the Matriculation event.
Most returning students will not need to attend Matriculation after their first year, unless they have a Tier 4 passport/visa check requirement.
