The Maths Support Centre is a place where any student of the university can come for free, confidential, one-to-one help with any mathematics- or statistics-based problem. If you want to build confidence in your mathematical ability, get confused by a particular topic, stuck on a problem, or want to consult about experimental design or data analysis then why not make an appointment?
Additionally, online resources are available at the St Andrews Maths and Stats Hub (www.stamash.org) where quality checked resources are searchable by topic, title and degree course.
Features of the Mathematics Support Centre include:
- One-to-one tuition with an experienced postgraduate tutor
- Help with any maths- or stats-based problem
- Advice on revision techniques
- Free to any student of the university.
Advice is available on a range of topics including (but not limited to):
- Basic maths (fractions, percentages, ratios)
- Plotting and interpreting graphs
- Molarity and concentration of solutions
- Standard deviation, means, modes and medians
- Logs, exponentials and trigonometry
- Integration and differentiation
- Discrete maths, logic and set theory
- Mechanics, waves and Laplace transforms
- Correlation and Linear Regression
- Statistical tests (t-tests, Chi-squared etc.)
- ANOVA
- Experimental Design & Data Analysis.
