Exchanges and study abroad
St Andrews has a range of Study Abroad programmes, primarily for undergraduate students. The St Andrews Abroad programme offers exchanges with a number of North American universities, with new programmes added regularly. From 2013-2014, St Andrews Abroad will expand to include the National University of Singapore and the University of Melbourne. The St Andrews Abroad programme is open to students across Arts, Divinity and Science; please check our website to find out which options are available for your degree programme. In addition to St Andrews Abroad, several Schools in Arts and Science offer their own Study Abroad programmes; for full details, please see Where can I go? Full details of the programmes available; the application and selection procedure; essential pre-departure information and procedures, and profiles of students who have already studied abroad, are available at Outbound students.
Please note: Study Abroad for credit is only permitted on existing University-approved programmes. The University has a range of Study Abroad programmes, all of which are carefully selected and monitored. We have good relations with our partners overseas and work closely with them to ensure our students enjoy a successful period abroad and a smooth return to St Andrews thereafter.
Credit and grade conversion
Please see the policy on Credits and grade conversions for study abroad also available from the Outgoing students web page, for details of the policy and procedure related to the acquisition of credit and grades at another institution as part of an approved Study Abroad programme, and the conversion of credits and grades to the St Andrews reporting scale.
