Mathematics Support Centre

CAPOD’s Mathematics Support Centre is a friendly, supportive service where members of the University can get free one-to-one assistance with mathematics- or statistics-based problems. Group sessions can be arranged on request and useful online resources are available from the website. Areas where people often need help include consultations about model construction, data collection and analysis for dissertations, domain-specific topics such as Laplace transforms and Nash equilibria, as well as more generic skills such as:

  • Basic maths (fractions, percentages, ratios)
  • Logs, indices and the exponential function
  • Integration and differentiation
  • Differential equations
  • Complex numbers
  • Mean, standard deviation, and variance
  • Correlation and regression
  • Experimental design and data analysis
