Extension of studies - postgraduates
You may discover that you require more time to complete your work than is permitted in the Senate Regulations. In this case you should contact your supervisor, who will be able to advise you on the procedure for requesting extra time. It is very important that you negotiate periods of extension up to three months in advance of your anticipated end date.
You should be aware that there are fee implications. If the extension request is granted, you must pay the appropriate extension fee, details of which are available from the Postgraduate fees table.
Overseas students should note that any extension to the degree programme will have visa implications. Students considering extension to their studies should contact the International Adviser to get help and advice on these issues.
For information on requesting an extension to your studies please refer to the Policy for Supervisors and Students in Taught Postgraduate Programmes and Policy for Supervisors and Students in Research Postgraduate Programmes, which can also be found at Current Postgraduates > Rules and Regulations.
