Counsellors
Students sometimes encounter personal difficulties that can affect their studies and their ability to cope with University life. These difficulties can be either social, personal or health related; including problems with mood or anxiety, relationship difficulties, family issues, bereavement or just adjusting to University life. Our team of counsellors offer a wide range of strategies to assist students as they work to overcome or cope with difficulties that affect them. This service is free to all matriculated students.
The counselling service offers solution focused assistance to address any concerns students may have. Our team are all experienced and professionally qualified from a range of disciplines; including social work, medicine, psychology and counselling. They work to help users of the service see their situation more clearly; make decisions that are right for themselves and develop constructive ways of coping. They are part of Student Services, and can be accessed through the ASC (Advice and Support Centre) or through their offices in the Students’ Association. The counsellors meet with students on a one-to-one basis during office hours and it is easy to make an appointment by emailing, telephoning or calling in to our offices or the ASC.
