Feedback

Focus groups are just one of the ways we get feedback from students

Send your feedback

The University wants to know the views of the student community in order to maintain and improve their services.  That means we want to hear from you!!!

You can use our Student Feedback Form to let us know about your experience at St Andrews (feedback will be anonymous, if you wish), or email your comments to: studentexperience@st-andrews.ac.uk

What we've done so far

Throughout the year the University gets feedback from a number of sources, including internal and national student surveys.  This page will be updated regularly to give details of how the University has acted on the feedback.

Students were less satisfied with some aspects of the accommodation services provided in halls of residence and University managed properties. Student Accommodation Services have responded to your feedback by implementing a number of changes to their services, which can be viewed on their page.
Students would like assistance from IT Services beyond normal business hours. IT Services are reviewing the provision of an out-of-hours IT helpdesk service.
Some postgraduate students have found their studies have been limited by online access restrictions. IT Services are taking back restrictions to some online content for postgraduate students.
Students have requested wireless internet in halls of residence. IT Services are working to extend wireless network coverage from the main campus buildings to halls of residence.
Students were not satisfied issues relating to downtime with the University's servers. IT Services have constructed a new data centre to improve the consistency of service delivery.
Students need more study space and access to PCs in the library. There will be an additional 250 workspaces, including more PCs for students to access as part of the main library refurbishments.
Commuter students needed a place where they could study, eat, socialise and/or have access to facilities that are available to students staying in halls or residence or around town. The commuter students room underneath the ASC, 79 North Street is available for students who reside outside of St Andrews. More info on commuter students can be found here.
Students wanted a clear, simple way to get access to University services and information. Student Services, Student Finance and Registry have worked together to launch the ASC in September 2010. This one-stop-shop can help with all student matters, financial, academic, and personal. Stop by at 79 North Street for more information.
Students wanted access to residences during the Spring vacation. Students in catered residences will have access to their rooms during the Spring vacation from March 2010.
Students wanted more fruit and fruit juice available in halls of residence. Fruit and fruit juice are now included as additional menu items.
Commuter students wanted to find a way to communicate with each other. The Townsend Society has been founded through co-operation between Student Services and the Students' Association. Find them on Facebook for the sharing of ideas, travel secrets, information on university matters which are picked up informally in halls by residential students
Commuter Students want to be identified individually A flag is now on the university commuter programme so that all Commuter students will have particular allowances to balance the disadvantage of them having to travel in so often.
Academic Staff seem unaware that a small percentage of students have travel issues and are not residential We have included a student diversity profile in the induction training of all academic and administrative staff
The Library systems are inflexible for some students. Although recent changes to the Short Loan system helps the majority of students, it can discriminate against, e.g. Commuter Students. Currently the library does not allow commuters additional time for access to short loan material but are happy to look at requests on a case by case basis.
Commuter Students hate having to carry big bags of books around all day Locker provision is being considered as part of the refurb including the possible introduction of daytime lockers.
