Counselling
Our Occupational Health Service can refer staff to an independent counselling service where a need is identified and it is appropriate to do so. This will depend upon health needs and to assist an individual to remain at work or to return to work following a period of ill health. The counselling service via the Occupational Health Service is time-limited, therefore for people who have long standing mental health difficulties, it is usually more appropriate to access such services via the NHS.
There is also a free, confidential, telephone support service available to staff who work in Higher Education, offered through Recourse.
Their support line offers information, practical and emotional support to those working in adult, further and higher education (both serving and retired) and their families. The number is 0808 802 03 04 and you can access:
- Money management advice
- Financial assistance (grants and loans)
- Solution-focused telephone counselling with qualified professionals
