  • Research Staff Forum
    The RS Forum meets three times a year to discuss issues relating to Research staff. The RS reps also meet prior to the Forum to discuss the forum agenda. This link provides more information about the remit of the Forum, its current membership and minutes of the meetings.

  • Fixed Term Contracts
    The University is committed to ensuring that all staff employed on Fixed Term Contracts are treated as favourably as those on standard contracts in relation to pay, benefits, training, promotion and career development. In line with this commitment, and the provisions of the Fixed Term Employee (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002, the University and St Andrews UCU are jointly committed to ensuring good practice is fully implemented and the use of successive fixed term contracts is minimised.

  • Code of Practice (Under review)
    The Code of Practice sets out the terms under which contract research staff are employed and is the policy statement which relates to all Research staff and Principal Investigators

  • Promotion Policy and Procedures (Under review)
    A copy of the Promotions Guidelines and criteria for promotion. Further information is available from Human Resources. Guidelines are updated annually. Always ensure that you have the current set before making an application

  • Salaries and Pensions

  • Appraisal Scheme for Research Staff
    A pilot scheme has been developed to facilitate appraisal meetings between research staff and Principal Investigators (PI). The scheme is voluntary. If you would like to make use of the scheme you should approach your PI to discuss it. Guidelines, an interview form and a flowchart are all provided to help you.
