Research Staff Forum

Remit

Remit of the Research Staff Forum (from July 2006 - previously the Contract Research Staff Forum )

1. To represent the views of research staff on University policies and procedures

2. To consider and report on matters concerning research staff

3. To discuss matters of policy and procedure relating to research staff and to make recommendations to the Staff Committee

4. To discuss the implications of any new legislation specifically affecting research staff and to make recommendations to the Principal's Office and the conveners of other committees as appropriate.

5. To make an annual report to the Staff Committee providing information about the matters considered by the Forum during the year and making recommendations for change.

Members should canvass opinion in their Schools prior to meetings and raise any issues at the Forum. Members are also responsible for communicating information on the discussions and recommendations of the Forum to their colleagues.

Research Staff representatives are entitled to attend their School Councils. Schools should organise an annual election to appoint their Research Staff rep.

Membership

The Research Staff Forum was established in 1999, as the Contract Research Staff Forum, on the recommendation of the University's Staff Committee and meets twice a year.

The Forum is chaired by the Deputy Principal and has a Research staff member and Principal Investigator from any School with three Research Staff or more.
