5. External examiners - undergraduates / taught postgraduates
- Audience: This policy is for the attention of:- All academic staff: in particular, Heads of Schools, Directors of Teaching, Postgraduate Conveners, and Examination Officers. Registry, SALTIRE, Human Resources.
- Scope: This policy applies to all undergraduate and taught postgraduate External Examiners in the University.
- Responsibilities: Policy author: Deans’ Office. Responsibility for the implementation of the policy lies with Heads of Schools and Deans.
- Relationship with existing policies: This policy supersedes the Code of Practice on External Examining dated 4 June 2007. Details of the responsibilities and authority of External Examiners can be found within the Policy documents “Assessment Policies and Procedures” and “Assessment: Marking and Standard Setting”.
