3.2.1 Preface

The paper Assessment Policies and Procedures deals with the formal processes involved in assessment (for example, setting assessments, examination procedures, Module Boards, the role of External Examiners, Classification Boards, deferred assessment, the return of exam scripts and security of the examination process).   It also made various suggestions in relation to marking practices.

This policy does not contradict the Assessment Policies and Procedures policy but simply serves to amplify and clarify details of the procedures surrounding marking.

The formulation of this policy has been guided by the Academic Infrastructure outlined by the QAA and in particular the QAA Code of Practice for the Assurance of Academic Quality and Standards in Higher Education. All assessment practices also aligned with the SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework).
