Appending B - Reflective report

Probationers are required to demonstrate competence in all three areas of academic practice: research and scholarship, teaching and service. Your submission, which should be no more than 3 pages, should simply demonstrate what you have undertaken during the 11-month period and provide the necessary evidence to support this. The following is an example of the types of activities you may wish to include:

Research and Scholarship

  • Publications in last 12 months.
  • Research Grant Applications and Awards in last 12 months.
  • PhD Examinerships or other indications of esteem.
  • Evidence of impact of research.
  • Research Plans.

Service

  • Managerial/administrative experience in the 11-month period.
  • Administrative responsibilities outside the University.
  • Evidence of collegiality or teamwork in the School/University.
  • Plans for future administrative roles.

Teaching

  • Values and philosophy underlying your approach to learning and teaching.
  • Contact hours.
  • Range and level of teaching.
  • Learning resources you use/have developed.
  • How have you evaluated your teaching.
