Appendix 2 - Terms of reference for the radiation hazards sub-committee
The terms of reference for this Sub-Committee are:
- To supervise the health aspects of the use of ionising and other electromagnetic radiations and radioactive substances within the University;
- To ensure that safe working practices are followed;
- To establish and review a policy for the provision of information, instruction and training in the field of radiation protection;
- To report regularly and submit recommendations to the University Safety Committee;
- To draft 'Local Rules' for the approval of the University Court as and when necessary or desirable;
- To ensure that notifications are submitted to the Health and Safety Executive in compliance with legal requirements;
- To consult Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Health and Safety Executive and any other enforcement agency as and when necessary or desirable.
