Summary of travel insurance
Insured persons
- Category A - All Directors and Employees of the Insured resident in the UK.
- Category B - Any volunteer of the Insured.
- Category C - Any undergraduate, postgraduate or non-graduating matriculated student of the Insured undertaking approved travel within the UK and Worldwide.
Reason for travel
- Undertaking business trips on behalf of the Insured.
- Undertaking journeys for the purpose of a conference, research, or field trips approved by the Insured.
- Anticipated journeys of more than 6 months must be declared by contacting insurance@st-andrews.ac.uk.
Specified countries
- Destinations must be declared to the Insurer if there is a suspected danger of terrorist activity, organised crime or political unrest.
- If in doubt, check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for updates and revert to the Insurance Office with regard to travel to regions with FCO advisory notices: www.fco.gov.uk.
Claims
- Claims will be processed by the University and should not be sent direct to the Insurer.
- When making a claim on behalf of the Insured Person, it is important we produce receipts, travel documents, and where necessary, official statements – police, hotel or airline.
- If travel is cancelled due to illness, then confirmation from a medical GP is required.
- A policy excess may be imposed depending on the type of claim submitted.
