Important update disruption due to volcanic ash
Level of cover
For travelers experiencing delays/cancellations due to the volcanic ash affecting airlines and airspace, the University travel policy will cover insured persons for approved travel (see Summary of Travel Insurance) for the following:
- In the event of cancellation or curtailment the policy will provide cover for all deposits and advance payments and other charges for transport and accommodation including additional cost of travel and accommodation incurred returning the insured person to their normal country of residence.
- The policy will also cover some other pre-booked expenses e.g. car hire. This section is limited to GBP 10,000 per insured person and GBP 250,000 in respect of all losses arising from the same incident.

For travelers who have booked accommodation / travel through an alternative provider, please contact your travel provider in the first instance for information regarding your travel plans as a number of airlines are automatically re-booking travelers on alternative flights. If you require any further help with booking accommodation / travel, please contact the University travel service.
