Funding Call

Enhancing the development of student graduate attributes through new approaches to teaching and learning

Do you have an idea for enhancing the development of students’ graduate attributes through new approaches to learning, either within the curriculum or through extra-curricular activity? Would you be able to implement it if you had £300 towards the costs of doing so? The Institutional Team for the latest Enhancement Theme – Developing and Supporting the Curriculum – invites staff, postgraduate tutors/demonstrators and students to submit funding proposals for small projects, up to a maximum of £300, that enable undergraduate students to develop their graduate attributes through reflection and personal development planning OR that incorporate the teaching of research skills into the curriculum in new ways at sub-honours level. Proposals having a broad impact, for example on a programme, module or group of students are particularly welcome.

What are the Enhancement Themes?

The Enhancement Themes are Scotland-wide initiatives that encourage and support good practice in teaching and learning in Higher Education, both nationally and internationally.

The Enhancement Themes are managed by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Scotland, which is part of the UK-wide QAA, an independent body responsible for quality assurance in Higher Education. Further details about the Enhancement Themes can be found at http://www.enhancementthemes.ac.uk/

The Current Enhancement Theme: Developing and Supporting the Curriculum

This theme was introduce in summer 2011 and will run for three academic years.

The objective of the theme is to consider how students achieve the attributes required of 21st century graduates :

  • How is the curriculum, in its broadest sense, shaped and delivered?
  • Who is it for – how is the student body changing?
  • What support is required for staff?
