Mentoring
Scheme for new lecturing staff and teaching fellows
The University's mentoring scheme aims to provide a supportive structure for new members of lecturing staff. Schools are also encouraged to include teaching fellows in these arrangements. The scheme complements local induction procedures, centrally provided induction, staff development and Q6, which collectively aim to ensure new members of staff receive all the necessary advice and support they require in the early stages of their appointment.

Early Career Academics' Mentoring Scheme
The Early Career Academics' Mentoring Scheme is run by the University on a cross-institutional basis in conjunction with the University of Dundee. (Please note, this scheme is not linked to the probation process).
The scheme was originally launched for post-doctoral researchers, however new lecturers or teaching fellows who would like a mentor from outside their own School or department (separate to their probationary mentor) are also welcome to apply for a mentor through the cross-institutional scheme.
If you require further information or have any questions regarding the scheme, please contact Jos Finer (CAPOD) via jaf21@st-andrews.ac.uk or extension 2599.
