Reffin Brilliant comes to St Andrews
Friday 19 October 2012
Reffin Brilliant returned to St Andrews on the weekend of 6th & 7th of October. Students from Universities from all over Scotland attended and left with refereeing or umpiring qualifications. The univesity in conjunction with Scottish Student Sport, Sport Scotland and several national governing bodies was able to offer introductory level officiating qualifications in rugby, volleyball, netball, hockey and basketball.
Over 60 students attended over the course of the weekend and are now tasked with going back to their institutions and getting involved with refereeing university matches. Sports Development Manager Gary Brankin said 'Reffin Brilliant is a fantastic initiative and a great opportunity for students to get involved with officiating. This is the 3rd year that we have hosted the festival and the numbers of individuals becoming qualified officials is continuing to grow year on year.'
