The University of St Andrews has recently appointed a full time Director of Rugby - David Ross. David's appointment is the first in its kind in Scottish University Sport and is one of only two full time Director of Rugby at Amateur level in Scotland. David was recruited from his position with Scottish Rugby where he worked for over 3years as a Performance Development Manager(PDM) where he looked after Scottish rugby's player pathway program in the Caledonia Region of Scotland bringing through players into the National Age Grade Teams, National Academy and onto possible professional rugby contracts.
The University Rugby program is now evolving with David at the helm and the aim of creating a professional, competitive, performance based rugby program is now starting to progress. The evolution of what is currently in place into being the top university rugby program in Scotland is taking place anyone wishing to be a part of this exciting phase in university sport and to develop themselves as a player with aspirations to play at the highest level possible is encouraged to contact the Director of Rugby.
The Men's Rugby Club is one of the largest and more active university sports clubs both in terms of players and social life. The club puts three teams on the field every week and has enjoyed continued success in both University and regional competitions. In the past season the club put on more social events that any club in the AU and we are renowned for our ability to have a good time whilst including everyone. If you want to play with the best or just get fit the Rugby Club welcomes all players.
