Club information
Aikido is a non-competitive Japanses martial art focused on self-development and self-defence. It is often described as one of the most subtle and sophisticated of the martial arts. It uses the attacher's strength and aggression against him, with techniques mainly consisting of throws and joint locks. Due to the nature of Aikido and its use of body movement and technique, it may be practiced by anyone - regardless of physique, age, gender or fitness. Our training focuses mainly on the unarmed aspects of Aikido, augmented by weapsons training as many of Aikido's techniques are derived from use of the sword and staff. The club is very friendly and boasts a helpful and enjoyable training environment as well as an excellent social life with weekly pub nights and regular parties, video nights, and other events.
