Social psychology
These researchers focus on intergroup processes (including crowd behaviour and discrimination), morality and associated emotions (such as guilt and shame), and inhibitory processes in social memory formation. A variety of techniques are employed, including human experimental and questionnaire methodologies, and the research is carried out both in the UK and abroad (e.g. India). The research has had substantial impact beyond academia, for example by informing public order policy in national and international police forces.
