St Andrews students managed to get some exclusive interviews behind the scenes at this year’s Alfred Dunhill Championship, with stars of sport and the stage telling them what makes them come back to every year.
The annual event, which sees professional golfers and celebrity amateurs make themselves at home in Fife, runs at the Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns from 4-7 October.
In just one day, the intrepid student film-makers caught up with renowned footballers Alan Hansen, Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit and Jamie Redknapp, cricketer Ian Botham and Scottish rugby giant Gavin Hastings.
Dunhill regular, Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres told the students how, in previous years, he and Hollywood actor Michael Douglas would surprise students by impromptu visits during their stay.
He said, “A friend of mine, Michael Douglas, and me used to go out, and if we’d see students having a party, we’d knock and come in and say hello... it’s nice being here, you guys are very lucky to be going to school here.”
This year’s Bubble TV controller said of the eventful first day in town, ”Talking to Alan Hansen and Johan Cruyff were definitely the highlights - it was surreal to meet two footballing legends within minutes of each other! Tico Torres is quite the character as well.”
Watch the special Dunhill episode and look out for updates over the rest of the event.
