Five adventurous students have cycled thousands of miles across Africa for charity.

Five adventurous students at the University have undertaken the journey of a lifetime, named Pedal Africa, to raise money for charity. Stuart Charters, Emmy Wassenius, Rohit Rao, Ed Bennett and Caroline Sejer Damgaard from St Andrews Adventure Group (STAAG), spent nine weeks over the summer cycling 3,678km (2,285miles) across challenging terrain in Africa as part of their Challenge2012.
The group travelled from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean through Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia, crossing deserts, tackling mountainous climbs and often camping out overnight.
So far, the group has raised £7,186 for a variety of charities, including the One Foundation through which they aim to raise enough money to buy a water pump to supply an entire village in Africa. To find out more, or to donate, go to: http://pedalafrica.wordpress.com/
