St Andrews students are set for starring roles in a glittering costume production of Tchaikovsky’s famous opera Eugene Onegin.

The students are members of St Andrews Opera, which is run by the University’s Music Centre, working in collaboration with the London-based Bloomsbury Opera.

Performances will take place in St Andrews and London with three dates at the Byre Theatre in the town on 14, 15 and 16 June and three further dates in the capital in late June.

The production brings together some of the best singers from London music colleges and homegrown St Andrews University talent with a professional orchestra conducted by Michael Downes, the University's Director of Music.

The opera runs at the Byre Theatre on 14, 15 and 16 June at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £14 and £9, are available from the Byre (01334 475000 / www.byretheatre.com) and also in person from the Music Centre office in the Younger Hall.
