Spring “officially” arrived at the university in the form of a colourful visitor. On one of the brightest days of the year so far the small tortoiseshell butterfly was spotted enjoying the banks of crocuses planted outside the School of Economics and Finance, Castlecliffe. The small tortoiseshell is one of the UK’s most common butterflies and is usually among the earliest to be spotted in gardens making it a key harbinger of spring.
