Every year, St Andrews students participate in study abroad programmes all over the world. Whether it is exploring Australian marine life as part of a Biology programme at James Cook University in Queensland; or studying Irish literature at Trinity College in Dublin; or gaining a new perspective on international relations at the University of Hong Kong, study abroad programmes play an important role in the University's commitment to a learning culture that is challenging, imaginative and flexible.
The Collaborations & Study Abroad team recently launched a photo competition for outbound students; all students who studied or worked abroad for credit in 2010-2011 were invited to submit photographs under two categories: ‘A Different View’ and ‘Saints Abroad’.
The Proctor presented the competition winners with prizes at the annual ‘Welcome (Back!)’ reception for inbound study abroad students and St Andrews students returning from abroad, which was held in the Union.
The winners are:
Robert Spanring, who studied in Australia, for his entry, ‘Eye of the Traveller: Uluru’
Aleksandra Chlon, who studied in Russia, for her entry, ‘Embracing Moscow’
