Japanese student raises £4,000 for tsunami aid with headshave.

St Andrews student Sakurako Watanabe has raised over £4000 for victims of the Japanese tsunami.

In the days following the devastating earthquake and tsunami of 11 March, Sakurako and fellow Japanese students formed Japan Relief & Recovery, in association with the Japan Society.

The aim of the group is to raise as much awareness as possible in the St Andrews community, with all proceeds going to Japan via the Red Cross.

Sakurako initially set out to raise £311, in memory of 3/11, the date of the tsunami. However, the fund currently stands at more than £4,000 and still counting, with other fundraising efforts currently being undertaken.
