Mohsin Hamid visits St Andrews.
Mohsin Hamid, author of the Man Booker-shortlisted novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist, visited St Andrews this week as part of a new collaboration between the University and the Booker Foundation.
Mr Hamid delivered a lecture to a packed theatre, before answering questions from students and staff and signing copies of his book.
The visit was the highlight of a new initiative conceived by the Principal, Dr Louise Richardson (pictured with Mr Hamid) and Jonathan Taylor of the Booker Foundation. Every new undergraduate student was gifted a copy of The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The unique scheme provided students with a common topic for discussion and was designed to encourage intellectual debate and the exchange of ideas.
