Levitating train sets and the future of transport...

No longer confined to the pages of a science fiction novel, a dramatic demonstration in the science of levitation was at the centre of a public lecture at the University of St Andrews.

In a remarkable and world famous lecture, visiting Professor Ludwig Schultz used floating trains and monorails in his talk entitled Riding on Magnetic fields - the Miraculous World of Superconductivity.

Using superconductors and magnetic materials, the future of transport could lie in the science behind these miniature levitating train sets.
