Former student and Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy officially graduated from the University of St Andrews today (Friday 26 June 2009).

An alumnus, Chris studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of St Andrews from 1994-1996 and received University Blues in his first year. He was voted Sportsman of the Year in 1996 and became a member of the Great Britain National Cycling Squad in the same year. Chris transferred to Edinburgh University to pursue his sporting career and graduated in 1999 with a BSc Honours in Applied Sports Science.

Now the most successful Olympic male cyclist of all time, Sir Chris returned to St Andrews to be made a Doctor of Science.
