Celebrations will be held this week to mark Dr Brian Lang's retirement.
Dr Brian Lang will retire as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews on 31 December, 2008.
In the eight years since Dr Brian Lang's appointment, he has led the University through some of the most important developments of its near 600-year history from a £100M investment in estate to its firm establishment as one of the UK's leading higher education institutions.
To mark Dr Lang's retirement, there will be an open reception in Lower College Hall for University staff on 19 December 2008 starting at 12 noon. Refreshments, including a light buffet, will be served.
On Thursday 18 December, the University's Chancellor Sir Menzies Campbell will host a departure dinner for Dr Lang.
Many members of staff have expressed a desire to contribute to a gift for Dr Lang, and he has indicated that contributions will be donated to a charitable cause associated with the University, specifically to support bursaries and scholarships in St Andrews.
