PhD Studentships
PhD & EngD Application Routes
We have several different application schemes through which the School allocates doctoral studentship places. You can APPLY HERE for a PhD place in all research areas (astronomy, photonics, condensed matter physics)
International applicants may also wish to apply for funding fromthe SUPA prize studentship scheme
There are also discipline-specific studentships through three Doctoral Training Centres:
Scholarships are available for PhD study in all research areas in the School: photonics, condensed matter physics and astrophysics. These fully funded PhD scholarships usually start in September, but some may be available immediately. Studentships are funded by EPSRC, STFC, SUPA, the European Commission and other bodies, and commonly last for 3.5 years.

All our PhD students are trained within the SUPA Graduate School, which provides advanced courses to support their research studies.
