I have been accepted into honours in my MPhys Physics degree here at St Andrews, and have – so far – enjoyed two years here. When initially considering which university I was to attend, St Andrews was not in first place as I, being a city guy from Glasgow, didn’t think I could cope with the ‘small’ and ‘quiet’ life in St Andrews. On coming here for an open day - out of curiosity, and not to mention the eagerness of my parents, I was instantly overwhelmed, and knew that this was the place for me. The life here, as a student, is something that should definitely be experienced by all. The strong community that is provided by both staff and fellow students allows anyone to feel welcome. If any issues arise with course work, or anything, there is always someone that can help – something which, in my experience, can’t be found in every city.

The courses here have been thoroughly thought through with the student in mind, which can clearly be noticed in lectures when you see your lecturers dancing around making a fool of themselves, in the hope that it will aid the understanding of their lecture! St Andrews is such a great and unique place that it speaks for itself. I took the option of first year entry as I certainly don’t want to rush my time here.
