Pippa - Level Three Physics, 2007

Pippa in the level two electronics lab

The first time I visited St. Andrews I knew it was the place for me. The town is very picturesque and traditional, and it has a lively student community, who are always up for almost anything, including foam fights and early morning dips in the north sea!

St. Andrews has a brilliant physics department. The staff are enthusiastic and welcoming and are always open to ideas and questions. At school I was really intrigued with physics and couldn’t resist the opportunity to learn more. I took the direct entry route, which seemed to be a natural progression from Advanced Highers, and I’m now in my Junior Honours year. Despite being in a class of students who had already been at St. Andrews a year previous, I found it easy to make friends and also got to know my fellow direct entry students. The flexibility of the course allowed me to study astrophysics in my first semester of University, which was something I was really eager to explore and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The endless number of societies and clubs mean that getting involved is really easy and there are always balls and socials to attend! I definitely made the best decision in studying at St. Andrews, and I’m going to continue to enjoy every minute!
