Pascal is a student at the University of Orleans, France. As part of the demanding degree course titled "Ingénieur de Polytech'Orléans spécialisation Electronique et Optique" at Orleans, he spent one year in St Andrews. This programme is designed to improve the English-language abilities of the Orleans students, as well as extend their knowledge of physics. At St Andrews we are pleased that we have been hosting such Orleans students for several years now. As part of the European Credit Transfer scheme Pascal was able to graduate with a General Degree from St Andrews at the end of his time here.
He says:-
I spent only one year
in the University of St. Andrews when I studied Physics in third
year. I met lots of friendly people: nice students, lecturers
who were always happy to answer your questions.
Coming from France it was a little bit difficult to understand
students speaking fast, but after only two weeks I managed to
understand. I definitely felt at home as soon as I came in the
town. I used to call St. Andrews my "Home-Town" because
it is a nice environment to study and spend time. Besides, people
are really kind and helpful.
Although St. Andrews is a small town, there is a lot to do, particularly
when you join many societies. I had not time to do everything
I wanted to do. I was involved in basketball, ceilidh dancing,
rock and roll dancing, and astrosoc. I met lots of friends and
had fun with them. I have lots of good memories of this year.
I hope all the students who come to St. Andrews will enjoy it
as I did. As Principal Brian Lang said at the graduation ceremony,
St. Andrews is a part of my heart now. I hope I'll come back one
day…
