Philosophy Study Days
for Students of Higher Philosophy

Each year, we hold our very successful St Andrews Philosophy Study Day for Students of Higher Philosophy. This is a one-day event held in Spring at the University of St Andrews, attracting 150+ Higher Philosophy students from all over the country to take part in lectures and workshops on topics common to the Higher syllabus, including: Critical Thinking, Epistemology, Moral Theory, Hume, Descartes, Free Will and Existence of God.

- The day starts at 10.00am and ends at 5.00pm, and is divided into sessions - a mixture of plenary, parallel, and possibly small group sessions.

- We are delighted to be able to put on the Study Day WITHOUT CHARGE to high school students this year, thanks to financial support from the University - so, all school students can attend for FREE (but note that students should also bring some lunch money, for lunch in the town/at the Student Union). The Teacher fee (of £10) includes a buffet lunch - this teachers' lunch is a good 'networking' opportunity for schoolteachers to discuss the Philosophy syllabus with university staff. Teachers who wish to attend without attending the lunch can do so, and will pay no fee.
- Payment must be made at the time of booking.
- To book, please use this link to the University's Online Shop. Note the following instructions:
- You have to 'buy' the teacher place first, then 'continue shopping' to book as many student places as you need. Select which teacher option you need (with lunch, or no lunch), answer the questions asked, and add to basket. Then click 'continue shopping'.
- You will be taken to the main front page of the online shop at this point, so you'll need to select Conferences and Event bookings under the Product Catalogue (i.e. don't click on either 'Conferences' or 'Events'!). On selecting Conferences and Event bookings you will then see the Higher Study Day event listed under Philosophy. Click on this and you'll be able to then select however many student places you need, by clicking the + button. When you've got the right amount, click 'add to basket' again.
- You'll then be able to proceed to checkout. You'll have to spend a minute or so creating an account in order to check out, but this should be straightforward and quick. And then your places are booked!
