The Postgraduate Society

The PG Society, supported by the Students Association (SA) and St Leonards College, is responsible for representing the interests of postgraduate students to the University and for arranging a social and academic events calendar spanning the three semesters of the Postgraduate academic year. All postgraduate students are automatically members of the PG Society. The PG Society is headed by the Postgraduate President, who chairs the Postgraduate committee and sits on the University subcommittee responsible for the teaching, learning and assessment of Postgraduates (the Postgraduate Forum), and on University Senate.

The Postgraduate President, Vice President and the members of the PG Committee are elected each year; the President and Vice President through the SA general elections held in Candlemas semester, and the committee at the AGM held in Martinmas semester, usually in October. All PGs are eligible to stand for a position on the PG committee, and there are a range of positions which deal with specific representational (e.g. Academic Rep for Arts) and service delivery (e.g. Events Officer) functions.

If you’re interested in getting involved with the PG Society then you can find out here about the next AGM (on the 19th of October), when the 2011-12 PG committee will be elected.
