Welcome! You are probably very eager to know what will take place when you arrive at the University of St Andrews for the start of the 2014 academic year.

Orientation 2014
6 -  15 September

Halls of Residence

The Halls of Residence open on Saturday 6th September 2014 from 10:00am and there is advice on how to get to St Andrews.

We have an exciting and packed programme of over 290 events which will run from 10:00am on Saturday 6th September 2014 until 12 noon on Sunday 15th September 2014.  The detailed Orientation programme will be delivered to your accommodation.

Additionally, you can view the full programme of both Orientation and Freshers events at the Students' Association Orientation guide.  Unless specifically stated in the event title all the Orientation and Freshers events are open for anyone - undergraduates and postgraduates - to attend and we encourage you to go along.

Bank accounts

For information about opening a bank account you will find guidance on our webpages for International or EU students and those from Scotland or elsewhere in the UK.  For more information on local bank services and offers, please see the St Andrews local bank guide 2014 (PDF, 91 KB).

Module choices and advising

Entrant undergraduate students will complete advising during matriculation.  In order to get the most from your meeting with your adviser of studies, it is important that you have done some initial research of the online course catalogue, the Virtual Subject Talks and additional information on School webpages. Please ensure you have reviewed the guidance on pre-advising and completed online advising prior to meeting with your adviser.

Postgraduate students should consult the guide for new postgraduate students for information on advising and matriculation.
