OpenSearch is a collection of simple formats for the sharing of search results.
It is a way for websites and search engines to publish search results in a standard and accessible format. You can use OpenSearch formats to help people discover and use your search engine and to syndicate search results across the web.
In practice it means that some browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, can use the OpenSearch information to enable you to search the University website more easily directly from your browser, without having to visit the University website.
