New Undergraduate Students - January 2013
Evening Degree

Entrance and Matriculation Process
Before the start of Evening Degree teaching in January you must go through the matriculation (registration) process.
Below are the steps to be completed by entrant students, that is students who are matriculating at the University for the first time.
Step 1 - Open your computer account
Open your computer account and activate your University email
Your University email address is yourusername@st-andrews.ac.uk. Your username is included in the entrant email sent by Registry. You will create your password when you open your account.
Opening, regularly checking and using your University email account is compulsory. You can check your email with SaintMail.
If you have problems opening your computer account, help is available from the IT Helpdesk.
Step 2 - Pay your tuition fees
Ensure any funding is in place: see the fees information on the Evening Degree webpages or in your Evening Degree Welcome Pack (on Fee Waiver, Part-time Fee Grant etc.).
Find out about...
You will not be able to complete the matriculation process unless you pay your fees, so please make any payment or funding arrangements in good time.
Please note that it is University policy not to send out invoices to students for payment of tuition as all the fee information is published on our web pages.
-
Changes in fees
The University Court reserves the right to make changes in fees without notice at any time before or after a candidate's admission. - Liability for tuition fees
Entrants should note that it is a condition of registration with the University that they accept liability for their tuition fees.
Step 3 - Apply for your student ID card
Apply for your student ID (matriculation) card.
You should be able to collect your card during the Study Essentials sessions or at Matriculation.
This card is also your library borrowing card, and it is a swipe card which will give you access to University buildings, such as the open-access computer classrooms and the commuter students' room.
Step 4 - Disabilities
Information for students with a disability or learning difficulty.
Step 5 - Module choices
Most Evening Degree students will have discussed their choice of modules at interview and Letters of Offer should have confirmed these. The Evening Degree Co-ordinator will pre-enter your module choices for you.
If you wish to change your module choices, please contact Dr Nicky Haxell, Evening Degree Co-ordinator.
Advising and Matriculation
Advising and matriculation will take place on the morning of Friday 25 January in the Gateway building. Find out where the Gateway building is.
It is important that you set up your computer and email account before this.
Step 6 - Advising
All students are required to see their Adviser at the start of their studies, at Advising (part of the matriculation process). The Adviser for Evening Degree students, Dr Nicky Haxell, will check your module choices to ensure they are appropriate.
We will email you Advising appointment details in January.
Step 7 - Matriculation
The final step in the registration process is known as Matriculation.
Matriculation includes completing online matriculation on Friday 25 January. This process will guide you through the elements of registration required for you to become a St Andrews student.
