Professor Angus Deaton and Professor Sir Nicholas Wright were made honorary graduates of the University of St Andrews this morning (Wednesday 25 June 2008). Professor Deaton, pictured above left with laureator Professor John Beath, was made a Doctor of Letters, while Professor Wright, pictured above right with laureator Professor Simon Herrington, was made a Doctor of Medicine.
During this afternoon's ceremony, golfer Renee Powell and lawyer Baroness Helena Kennedy were conferred honorary degrees (Hon LLD and Hon DLitt respectively). They are pictured below, Renee with laureator Professor Alan Cairns and Baroness Kennedy with Principal Dr Brian Lang.
