Research Postgraduate Students 2011 - 2012
On the following pages, you will find links to information of particular importance to research postgraduate entrant students, that is students who are matriculating (registering) at the University on a postgraduate course for the first time. Once you have confirmed your acceptance of an unconditional offer, your application is passed on to undertake the pre-matriculation processing. Applications progress at different rates, so do not be too concerned if you haven't received your entrant emails immediately.
Preparation before Matriculation
Step 1 - Accommodation
If you have any queries about accommodation, please contact Student Accommodation Services.
Step 2 - Computer account
When you open your account and activate your University email, you will be automatically set up to use SaintMail, an enhanced email service with integrated calendar.
As a research postgraduate, you may need to opt out of SaintMail and use our WebMail service instead.

Once your email is activated you will be able to access it using SaintMail. You should check your University email frequently as official and academic
communications will be sent to your University email address.

Step 3 - Pay your tuition and accommodation fees

The University Court reserves the right to make changes in fees without notice at any time before or after a candidate's admission. - Liability for tuition fees
Entrants should note that it is a condition of registration with the University that they accept liability for their tuition fees.

Step 7 - Module choices
If you need to take any taught modules, please discuss this at the meeting with your supervisor. You will also discuss attendance at appropriate sessions of the Research Skills Training.
Matriculation
Step 8 - Meet with your supervisor
Students are required to contact their supervisors at the start of their studies, please contact your department if you wish to make an appointment to see your supervisor.
Step 9 - Online Matriculation - start of registration process
This online process will guide you through the elements of registration required for you to become a St Andrews student. An email will be sent to your University account with instructions when the Admissions process has been completed and your record transferred to Registry. It is important that you have created your email account as you will need this to access the online facility.
Matriculation - complete registration
Matriculation brings the entrance process to an end. On completion of this process you will be a fully-matriculated student of the University and will have all necessary access to facilities.
