New Academic Year - headlines!

 

Here are the key dates to note for the New Academic Year 2012-2013

  • Orientation Week will take place one week earlier than previously ie Monday 10 September 2012.
  • Students will get access to Halls of Residence from Saturday 8 September 2012 with the last date for departure being Saturday 22 December 2012. For Semester 2, students will get access to Halls from Wednesday 23 January 2013 and must vacate by Saturday 1 June 2013.
  • All students are expected to be in St Andrews for Advising and must complete Advising by Wednesday of Orientation Week.
  • Advisors will give students a careers-focussed task for completion over the session.
  • Week 1 of teaching in Semester 1 starts on Monday 17 September 2012 although all students are expected to attend any timetabled activities in Schools on Thursday and Friday of Orientation Week. Attendance records will start from Monday 17 September 2012.
  • There will be no late matriculation.
  • The Re-Advising period will be reduced by one week in both Semesters. For Semester 1, re-advising open on Monday 17 September 2012 and closes on Monday 24 September 2012 at 1pm. This places more importance on good use of Pre-Advising and preparation for classes during Orientation Week.
  • There will be no Reading Week in Semester 1.
  • There will be a Revision Week immediately before the December exams.
  • Semester 1 exams will be held from Monday 10 to Thursday 20 December 2012 (inclusive) – students MUST be available for the whole exam diet.
  • Provisional exam timetables will be released in Weeks 7 of both Semesters.
  • Students will not be expected to return to St Andrews for assessment before the start of Semester 2.
  • Week 1 of teaching in Semester 2 starts on Monday 28 January 2013.
  • The Spring Vacation is scheduled for the weeks commencing Monday 18 and 25 March 2013.
  • There will be two Revision Weeks immediately before the May exams.
  • Week 14-16 of Semester 2 are scheduled for examinations/results reporting.
  • Graduation dates are not affected by the new arrangements.
