MU1003 Understanding Music

This module aims to develop skills and knowedge that will help students to get more out of the experience of listening to music. Focusing particularly but not exclusively on classical music, the module includes components on musical history, acoustics and aesthetics, and examines set works in particular detail. Students are not required to perform as part of this module, but some knowledge of musical notation will be an advantage.
