Sarah Sneddon MA PhD LTCL DipABRSM

Sarah is the Director of Teaching for the Music Department. She completed her MA in English and Modern History and her PhD in Children’s Literature here at the University of St Andrews. During her time as a student here she received the Cedric Thorpe Davie prize for study in Music, was taught clarinet by Gillian Craig and Saxophone by Phillip Greene, receiving a Licentiate from the Trinity College London (Teacher’s Diploma in Clarinet). She completed a DipABRSM in 2006 (Teacher’s Diploma in Piano) and teaches Piano, Clarinet, Saxophone and Flute privately. Sarah is the musical director of Harbourlights East Neuk Music Theatre Company, a post she has held since 1991. She was Director of Music at New Park Preparatory School and has many years of teaching experience at the University of St Andrews and the Open University. Currently, she teaches Introduction to the Arts for the Open University and is module coordinator for the University of St Andrews courses MU1003 Understanding Music, MU1004 Making Music and the first semester sitting of MU2003 Bagpipes: History, Repertoire and Performance and also teaches on MU2002 Scottish Music.
