MU1901 Understanding Music for Beginners (Evening Degree Programme)

Semester 1

This module examines the topics of music history, acoustics, aesthetics and musical theory and analysis. It aims to provide an overview of the history of Western art music and a broad appreciation of different ways in which the study of music can be approached in an academic context. During the course students will develop analytical skills that will allow them to describe pieces of music in terms of form, structure, texture, timbre and instrumentation.

The first meeting is Wednesday 19th of September at 6.30 pm - 9:30 pm, Arts Building Seminar Room 7
