Music Library

The Centre has a small library of music containing orchestral, instrumental, vocal, chamber and choral parts and scores as well as text books covering a wide range of musical matters. A large part of the collection was generously donated by the family of the late Professor Cedric Thorpe Davie, Master and Professor of Music in the University from 1945 until 1978. The contents of the Music Library can be viewed via our catalogue.

The library is not normally open for browsing, so if you find something in the catalogue that you would like to borrow, please email us and we will fetch it for you, normally by the next working day.

In addition, the University Library has a considerable collection of music (classification M) available on loan in accordance with the library's regulations. Quite a large quantity of sheet music is still being catalogued, so special enquiry may be fruitful.

We are keen to expand the collection of music that we have available for use by members. If there is some music that you think would be a worthwhile acquisition, let us know and we will consider purchasing it to add to the library.
