MLitt in Spanish and Latin American Studies

Entrance Requirements: A good degree with Honours from a UK university or its equivalent
Programme Duration: One year
Aim of Programme: This degree offers students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of Spanish / Latin American literature, culture and history through textual study and theoretical reflection. The study of film plays an important role.
Programme Content: It consists of one core research skills module on the theory and practice of literary research, complemented in the first semester by a team-taught module centred on patterns evident in Hispanic literature and culture, such as the "journey". In the second semester, students normally take another team-taught module but also have the opportunity of undertaking independent research in an area of personal interest under the supervision of a member of staff with particular expertise in the field. The MLitt normally concludes with the writing of a dissertation of 15,000 words on an agreed topic.
