Research and Teaching

My research interests can be summarised as follows:

  • History, literature and politics
  • European studies;
  • National questions and development of the national idea in Europe and North America;
  • History of Europe, of the idea of Europe, of European integration, and cultural implications
  • Ireland, history, literature, Northern Ireland;
  • Foreign and comparative literatures (English, Italian, German, Swedish), especially from the nineteenth century on;
  • Women’s studies.
